With assistance from the Loretto A. Langley
Charitable Trust and from the Flint Hills Genealogical Society,
the Emporia Public Library now has three new pieces of technology
to aid in family research. A face-up scanner/copier was
purchased along with a microfilm scanner and a computer.
The scanner/copier allows large or fragile books to be copied
without damaging the spine like a normal face-down copier
would. The microfilm reader permits the user to send the
selected information to a computer. At this point the user
can select just the information that is needed. An added
option is that the researcher may print off the information,
save it to a disk or e-mail it to themselves as an image
file.
Come see the exciting
technologies that we have in our Family and Local History
Department!
