9th Annual Kansas Reads to Preschoolers
November 17 - 23, 2013

Children’s Services is participating in “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers”, a project of the Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library of Kansas once again this year.  The project is designed to highlight the   importance of reading to children and also to promote the library as a renewable resource for reading      materials.  The statewide goal for the week is to read to every Kansas child between the ages of 0-5 years old!

The 2013 Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week will feature the story “Dog’s Colorful Day”, written and  illustrated by Emma Dodd. This book will be read aloud at public libraries, preschools, child care centers, and child care homes in Emporia and Lyon County during the week of  November 17th - 23rd.

Families are invited to visit the Emporia Public Library on Tuesday, November 19th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. for a special Family Night @ the Library and Family Fun Night. The evening will include stories, crafts, activities, and a snack. This event will be presented in cooperation with the Lyon County Child and Family Development Task Force.
