Second Annual Gingerbread Contest
December 7-9, 2012
Preheat the oven, find those cookie sheets, gather the kids, find a buddy, and use that pastry bag!
The Friends of the Library will host the second annual Gingerbread Contest at the Emporia Public Library Fri. - Sun., December 7-9. The categories that will be judged are: Youth 11 and below, Youth 12-17, adults 18 and older, and groupsincluding families and organizations. Any real or imaginary architectural structure is eligible for entry, but all entries must be original, no gingerbread kits please. The only exception will be for the youth 11 and below; they may use kits and any types of materials. Cash prizes will be awarded for each age group as well as a Friends’ Choice Award and a People’s Choice Award. A copy of the contest rules and entry form will be available on our website (www.emporialibrary.org) and at the circulation desk of the library starting Monday October 15, 2012. To be eligible for the contest, a signed and completed entry form must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday December 3, 2012. Entries that are not pre-registered will not be accepted.
All contest entries must be delivered to the library by Noon, Thursday, December 6th. The entries will be judged that afternoon and the winners will be notified and prize money awarded by mail. The entries will be on display in the library’s large meeting room Friday-Sunday.
A special children’s “Gingerbread Storytime” will be held in the library’s storytime room at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 7th. Let your imaginations run wild!
