COMPUTER USE GUIDELINES FOR EMPORIA PUBLIC LIBRARY

Times and regulations:

A patron is allotted a minimum of 30 minutes per day. A patron must sign in before using the computer. If no one is waiting, the patron will be allowed to stay on the computer until it is needed by another patron. Computer users are encouraged but not required to have an Emporia Public Library card.

The computers in Adult Services are for patrons from 7th grade through adult. The computers in Children's Services are for children 6th grade and below.

If formats, programs, settings, or other computer functions are changed, the patron will be suspended from further use for a period of up to two weeks. Suspension will be determined by the senior staff on duty after consultation with the staff member witnessing the incident.

Patrons will be allowed to access all sites available such as e-mail, chat rooms, games, etc., unless those sites contain illegal or unacceptable content.

The library reserves the right to:

·Terminate a computer session at any time for any reason
·Extend the use time for special reasons
·Move a user to a different computer to accommodate software needs or equipment maintenance


Although reasonable precautions will be taken, the library does not guarantee the hard drive to be virus free and assumes no liability for virus infections if persons save files to their own disks.
