             Kansans Remember
              World War II

Thursday, November 19
                                                      7:00 pm
                                       Wathena Senior Center
                              304 N. 4th Street Wathena, Kansas

Join Rachel Waltner Goossen, an associate professor of History at Washburn University as she presents a program on how World War II altered many lives, sending a generation of men and women across the state and overseas. The stories of nurses, pilots, chaplains, welders, and musicians provide a window into Kansans’ journeys to pacifist communities, factories, hospitals, and military service. This presentation focuses on oral histories of 1940s-era Kansans, as well as the journeys of present-day students who collected these stories. This program sponsored by The Kansas Humanities Council, Library District # 1 and Doniphan County Historical Society. Light refreshments will be served.

                            "Saturday Night Live"

Young adults, grades 6-12
Central Library in Troy from 7:30 pm to 11 pm
                    Saturday, November 14th

There will be dancing, games and lots of socialization activities. Every teen should bring a snack food, for example chips, cookies, popcorn, candy, etc. to share with the group. The library will provide the drinks. Every one will need to sign in with a phone number listed.  This is a lock-in activity, so teens can’t just come and go whenever they want.  A parent or guardian will need to pick up each teen by 11 pm., no one can walk home.  There will be 3 adults to help sponsor the evening, one in each room. Added note to teens—bring your favorite CD.
