LIBRARY SERVICES

Collections  More than 60,000 titles are included in the nonfiction and fiction collections.  Adult fiction includes Mystery, Science Fiction/Fantasy and Westerns.  Videos and audios include films and fiction books as well as a wide variety of nonfiction.  The library has large print books in fiction and nonfiction.

Children's Library  A full service Children's library for infants through middle school is located in the lower level.  Preschool story hours and elementary programs are scheduled throughout the year.  A Summer Reading Program is held annually.  The collection includes picture books, graded readers, juvenile fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, magazines, parent/teacher collection, videos and audios.  There are three Internet computers and two literacy workstations filled with learning games available in the Youth Services department for use by children.
Young Adult  The Young Adult (YA) collection includes fiction books and various magazines. This collection is located on the main level of the library.
Butler County Library Outreach  Located in the Bradford Memorial Library lower level.  Outreach staff distribute large print books and senior activity materials, including Alzheimer/Dementia therapy activities, to senior centers, hospitals, assisted living centers, nursing homes, and other designated Outreach sites throughout Butler County.
Clymer Room  The Clymer room is a public meeting room in the lower level of the library.  There is a kitchenette available.  The room holds up to 100 people.  Reservations must be made in advance.  A deposit is required and will be refunded if the room is left in good order.  The deposit is in addition to the room fees.  Library policy does not accommodate meeting room use for religious services and classes, weddings, family reunions, private parties, or dances.
Library cards  Library cards are free but the individual must fill out an application card.  The applicant must have a photo ID and provide proof of current address and social security number if their driver's license is out-of-state.  A driver's license is preferred.  Children under the age of 18 must have a parent, guardian or other adult sign as the responsible party.
Magazines and Newspapers  The library has subscriptions to about 100 magazines and newspapers.
Used Books and Magazines are available year round.  Donations are also accepted for the annual book sale held by the Friends of the Library.

Interlibrary Loan  Interlibrary Loan is available to all patrons in good standing.  The purpose is to obtain books or other materials not owned by Bradford Memorial Library from other libraries.  Through reciprocal agreements we are able to obtain most materials for free.  However, the patron is responsible for any charges incurred.  Lost materials, damaged materials, and overdue fines are the responsibility of the patron.

Interlibrary loans are sent through the US mail or courier, so it may take 3-14 days for your item to arrive.  Please keep this in mind when making your request.

Request forms may be picked up at the circulation desk in the library.  One form should be filled out for each request.  After completing the request form, turn it in at the circulation desk.  If you have any questions you may call or e-mail.

Return borrowed materials to the circulation desk.  Many lending libraries will not make Interlibrary Loan renewals, so we cannot accept requests for renewals.  Failure to return material by the due date will jeopardize future ILL borrowing privileges and result in overdue fines on the patron's record.

The Kansas Library Catalog is a searchable database that contains holdings from libraries across Kansas.  Many other library holdings are available on the Internet.
Kansas State Library Card  Patrons can obtain a Kansas State Library Card free from the library.  The patron must be a Kansas resident and must provide proof of such.  The Kansas State Library card provides access to magazine databases on the Internet.  The card is free and there are no annual costs for the card or database services.
Book Return  A book drop is located on the west side of the library for your convenience.  The book drop is emptied several times during library hours.  There is also an audio/visual materials return in the side of the building just before you get to the book return for returning those audios, videos, CDs and DVDs.
Internet Access  Ten Internet computers are available with Microsoft Office software.  Sessions are 30 minutes long but extended time may be available depending on demand.  Printed pages are 10 cents apiece; color pages are $1.00 each.
Copy Machine  A copy machine is available.  The cost is 10 cents per page, color pages are $1.00 each.
Laminator  Lamination is available on a limited basis.
