CONNELL ORNITHOLOGY (BIRD) COLLECTION

Whether you are an amateur bird watcher or a budding Roger Tory Peterson, there are many books in the Connell Collection that you will find interesting and useful.  To view the titles in the collection, use the directions above and select CONNELL ORNITHOLOGY COLLECTION. The following list is a sampling of the types of bird books that are available at Bradford Memorial Library:  field guides; guides to attracting birds to your yard; guides to feeding; books on specific birds; finding birds; birding equipment; lists of bird clubs; texts and encyclopedias; reproductions of color plates by John James Audubon; stories & histories; birds of other countries, cage, aviary, song and game birds; and bird songs on audio tape and CD.

The Clara Rockwood Connell Ornithology Collection is given to Bradford Memorial Library by Clifford Stone in honor of his mother-in-law, Mrs. O. J. (Clara Rockwood) Connell.  Mr. Stone has continued to add newly published works to the collection.

PLAYAWAYS

They're not an MP3, audio tape or CD player and they're not software -- they are the self-contained audio equivalent of a book.  Clearly marked buttons give listeners the option of placing digital bookmarks and controlling the speed of a narrator's voice, all while easily moving forward and backward through audio book selections.

Additionally, each Playaway has a universal headphone jack that works with almost any type of headphone or mobility accessory.  If you don't have headphones, earbuds may be purchased for $1 at the circulation desk and then the earbuds are yours to keep.

To see a full listing of available titles, Search the Online Catalog and type in PLAYAWAYS and click on the Subject button.  Each Playaway is checked out with your patron card the same as any other materials.
