Kansas Lawmaker Objectives

Kansas Lawmaker CD ROM is designed for the middle school and junior high school student in grades 6 through 9.

  1. It is designed for both classroom and individualized use.
  2. Multimedia is used to present the content in a way likely to engage the middle school/junior high student.
  3. Kansas Lawmaker uses graphics, text, sounds and video to appeal to the target group and to optimize learning.

The learning objective is to provide a technology-based interactive instructional resource for learning the Kansas legislative process.

The Learner will...

  1. Gain familiarity with legislative and governmental terminology.
  2. Examine real issues of Kansas state government.
  3. Gain experience in participating in the political process.
  4. Follow the steps of how a bill becomes a law.
  5. Participate in the amendment procedure.
  6. Follow the basic committee function in the legislative process.
  7. Compare and contrast the terms and responsibilities of Senators and Representatives.
  8. Be exposed to the constituent's role in the legislative process.
  9. Differentiate the legislative function from the executive and judicial functions.
  10. Recognize the importance of consensus building
