Poetry of Kansas

Two Girls Dancing.

My room mate dances like flame in the wind,
I like a stiff staff bending.
We sway together with arms entwined
And do a deal of pretending.
Far away is her misty glance
As she thinks of her own dear lad;
And I pretend I am clasped as we dance
By the lover I never have had.
