And to all the world as well,
And the word has been flashed out-
From that land of shot and shell
That the world's war now is over,
And that we again have peace.
May the horrors of the past
Cause all future war to cease.
Why this awful human slaughter?
Why the cannon's roar?
Human blood like streams of water
On that foreign shore.
This should make the whole world
At a future war for greed,
Where one man can hold the rudder,
Causing the whole world to bleed.
Yes, we've fought today and con-
For a world's democracy,
And our hope will soon be granted
To that land across the sea;
An awakening of the people,
In that land of shell and blast,
Cause them soon to choose their
And a monarch's day be past.
When democracy shall triumph,
And a league of nations say
What will best protect the people
From a slaughter like today.
Yes, a star of hope has risen
O'er the shadow of this war;
New-born brotherhood and faith have
That what we've been fighting for.
