Poetry of Kansas

Difference

These blue-jays in the mountains are not
Like our jays in lower land,
For these purplish, blue and greenish,
Lustrous things are burnished and
Metallic and enamelled like old
Cloisonneé from Samarcand,
Or as if the mountain wind had polished
Mountain ore with mountain sand.
