Joy in the Corn Belt

The seed is in the clover,
The ear is in the shuck,
The melons shout, "Come Out, come out,
And eat this garden-truck."

The yellow ears are for the steers,
The white are for the swine;
Their hair and hides and bacon sides
Are all for me and mine.

The cider mug is by its jug,
The sweet potatoes fry;
And ma is shovin' in the oven
Pumpkin custard pie.
