Poetry of Kansas

Dawn

The giant Night flung away
His but half-eaten melon-moon.
With one or two pale stars, aimed well,
Into Dawn's rosy lap it fell.
Disdainfully she shook them out,
Then, blushing, slipped away,
Running on golden sandaled feet,
To tell her sister__Day.
