Poetry of Kansas

Tell Me Not.

Tell me not of Maine,
      Nor yet of Californy,
Nor of Iowa,
So cold and yet so corn-y
Of Missouri speak
      In whispered accents only
Nothing let us hear
      Of Texas large and lonely.
Tell me of the state
      Of wonderful resources
Rich in men and soil,
      And in industrial forces
Kansas Is her name,
      And in the constellation,
Her ascending star
      Is brightest In the nation.
