What Laughing God?

What laughing god wove me this dream___
    Seven the seas that I shall know;
I who sit by an inland stream
    And watch the red years go.

The free wind, rising in the brake,
    Comes to mock my dream's defeat,
As does the moon whose golden wake
    Lies on a sea of wheat.
