Poetry of Kansas

A Winter Evening.

A bright, December day is near its close.
The light is lingering on the western
In dazzling beauty.___How it gleams and glows
On field and forest! All the air it fills
With brilliant colors. Meadows broad and brown,
Are brightened and all glowing in the light,
And smiling as the beams stoop gently down
To kiss their cheeks a soft and sweet good night.
