Poetry of Kansas

My Song

My memory of yesterday is pleasant;
In the truth of women and men,
Rest for the night that is coming,
And the blessings tomorrow may bring.
Love is my song to the world
Winged to the birds of the wood,
That fly o'er hill, valley and plain
In every remote spot of earth.

What shall we sing to the world,
That contentment and happiness return.
Live and let live, is my theme;
Peace and good will to all men.
Faith in the Creator of heaven;
Hope guides our lives safely on,
Charity for the widow and orphans,
Love is--the key to my song.
