WITHIN the grasp of every man there lies
The means whereby a noble effort yields
Some good result, which opens larger fields
Of vantage to his view; when if he tries
And by earnest endeavor well applies
Himself to gain reward, he wields
A magic sceptre, which to him reveals
The crown true effort gives to him who vies
With her in seeking to advance the ends
Of life and make it better by the deed.
For life and earth and time are full
Of opportunities high heaven sends
As instruments, our minds to safely lead
To higher planes with blessings rich and full.
