INFORMATION ABOUT MONTGOMERY COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
The Montgomery County Genealogical Society meets bi-monthly the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Coffeyville Public Library, located at 10th and Willow in Coffeyville, Kansas. If you would like to become a member of the Montgomery County Genealogical Society, single memberships are $8.00 per year and family memberships are $10.00 per year. Out of town memberships are $8.00 per year. Memberships run from January through December.
MEMBERSHIPS/BENEFITS: If you would like to become a member of the Montgomery County Genealogical Society, single memberships are $8.00 per year and family memberships are $10.00 per year. As a society member, you are entitled to receive a copy of the semi-annual magazine, "The Descender", published May and November each year. Society membership also entitles you the ability to submit queries in "The Descender" without additional cost.
At this time, the Society provides a "Basic" search for queries submitted to the Society by mail. The fee for this Basic search is $5.00. The fee must accompany the written query.Once the query, along with the check, is received, research will begin.
This "Basic" search will be confined strictly to the person you are inqurying about and strictly to Montgomery County Genealogical Society materials. Please send your query accompanied by check for $5.00 to:

SOCIETY PUBLICATIONS:
MAGAZINES: The Descender is a magazine published by The Montgomery County Genealogical Society semi-annually, May and November, each year. Ivan Pfalser serves as editor of The Descender. The Descender has articles concerning Montgomery County, Kansas. There is also a query section where members and nonmembers can submit their queries. Queries in the Descender may be submitted by members of the society, as well as, nonmembers. Queries submitted by society members are submitted without cost. Queries submitted by nonmembers will need to submit a fee of $3.50 along with their query of 50 words or less. Suggestions for material to be included in "The Descender" are appreciated. Both suggestions and queries for "The Descender" maybe sent to the society per email above, or by mailing directly to Ivan Pfalser, Montgomery County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 444, Coffeyville, Kansas 67333.
SOCIETY PROJECTS:
Genealogists, society members, as well as, nonmembers who have been working on their family histories are encouraged to donate their family group sheets to the existing Family History Files at the Coffeyville Public Library. If you wish to donate your family group sheets to these Family History Files, please notify the Society by standard mail and the Society will let you know how to proceed with getting these group sheets submitted.
If you are doing research on families in the Montgomery County, Kansas, area, please stop by the Coffeyville Public Library to check through these family histories. They are filed by surname in a vertical file.
