Leona Louise Vaughn, 77, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at the Hays Regional Medical Center in Hays, Kan. She was born Feb. 25, 1925, at the family farm near Angelus, one of 13 children, daughter of Bernard and Louise (Baalman) Korte. Her family moved to Torrington, Wyo., when she was in high school, and she graduated from there. During WWII, she worked as a Rosie the Reverter, putting up metal buildings. On Jan. 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward "Bill" Vaughn in Selden, where they made their home all of their married life. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, George, Henrv. Lawrence, Clem, Paul, Fred and Edward "Pete"; and two sisters, Treva and Caroline. She is survived by her husband, Bill; two sons, Murray Vaughn, and Gary Vaughn and his wife, DeLena, one daughter, Karen Raymond and her husband, Roger one brother, Leonard Korte and his wife, Vi, one sister, Mary Dickman, four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Burial in the Selden Cemetery.

She grew up in Angelus, and attended schools in Torrington, Wyo. She married Edward "Bill" Vaughn on Jan. 27, 1948, in Selden. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and Rose and Garden Club, all of Selden.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Murray, and Gary, a daughter, Karen Raymond, a brother, Leonard Korte, a sister, Mary Dickman,and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Henry, Paul, George, Pete, Clem and Fred, and a sister, Eleanor.
