Historic Resources Inventory Team Safari, Sat. Sept 29 at 9:30 a.m. We will meet at the MHGS library to review the Kansas Historical Resources Inventory Program, then form into teams and coordinate the various teams’ Safari Routes… after the Safari you will return to the MHGS library and share what your team has found. Bring a digital camera, a hard writing surface such as a portfolio, a pen and pencil, ruler or measuring tape, your water bottle and snack(s). Be prepared to walk, at your own pace, two to three miles. Reservations requested. Call 316 264-3611.

Genealogy Seminar. Sat. Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., MHGS, 1203 N. Man. Session led by Donna Londeen. Informal session focusing on the needs and expertise of those attending. Handouts are available. Please bring your laptop if you have a software question. Bring your information, resources, questions and answers. Reservations requested 316-264-3611.

History Seminar. Sat. Oct. 20 at 10:00 to noon. Reservations requested. Led by Dan Anderson. Informal session focusing on the inter-relationship between Community History, Family History and Genealogy, helping attendees to move from a recitation of “begats” to a narrative story off family and community. Topics covered will include:
Understanding the difference between genealogy, family history and community history.
Understanding how these three disciplines/genres relate and support each other. Understanding the need for sources and citations across each area.
Preparing to move between genealogy and history. Understanding and appreciating Research Planning
