| Obituary of MARY HIEBERT NEAL |
| Mary Neal, 51, of Lehigh died Feb. 19,
2000, at Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita. Born April 8, 1948, in Los
Angeles, Calif., she was the daughter of George and Mabel (Wall) Hiebert. She was an educator at Hillsboro Elementary and Middle Schools. She also was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church. On Oct. 9, 1977, she married Gaylan Neal in Oklahoma City, Okla. They lived in Lehigh the past eight years. In that time, Mary touched the lives of many through her numerous endeavors with the community. She was choir director for Hillsboro United Methodist Church, fair manager for Marion County Fair, tour guide for Prudent Tours, and volunteered at Marion County Learning Center. In Addition, she was a song writer and professional singer. She enjoyed educating children and shared her love of scuba diving by introducing it to Hillsboro students. She is survived by her husband, Gaylan of Lehigh; one son, Wayne Neal, Oklahoma City, Okla.; four daughters, Bonnie Wilson, Tacoma, Wash., Vessa Cartmill, Baton Rouge, La., Mary Anne Kates, Noble, Okla., and Angie Wilson, Norman, Okla.; her mother, Mabel Hiebert, Hillsboro; one sister, G. Annette Hench, Claremont, Calif.; and six grandchildren. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Hillsboro M.B. Cemetery. A memorial service followed at 11 a.m. at Hillsboro United Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Parrish officiated. A memorial has been established with Hillsboro United Methodist Church. |
