Graveside services for Fred G. (Pete) Angell, 82, Tonganoxie, will be 10 a.m.Thursday at Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

Mr. Angel died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center. He was born Feb. 9, 1919, in Tonganoxie, the son of Fred D. and Nell (Barber) Angell.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked for 37 years as an engineer for the Rock Island Railroad. Mr. Angel was a 1932 graduate of Tonganoxie High School, a member of First Congregational Church and Henri Masonic Lodge No. 190 AF&AM, all of Tonganoxie. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 14, Lawrence, and a former fire chief for the Tonganoxie volunteer fire department.

He married Roberta Mildred Beech on June 22, 1940, in Tonganoxie. She died on Oct. 19, 1999.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services for Marion Katherine Resco, 91, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Mrs. Resco died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born May 29, 1910, in Clay Center, the daughter of Albert and Edna Belle (Yowell) Eye.

She grew up in Clay Center and married Gerald Resco on Aug. 5, 1928, in Washington, Kan., where they lived for 14 years. They moved to Sunflower, where they lived for 22 months, and then to Linwood in 1944. The couple farmed and ran a blacksmith shop. Mrs. Resco worked as a cook at Linwood School for 10 years.

She retired in 1977 and they couple moved to Lawrence. Mr. Resco died Feb. 22, 1984.

Mrs. Resco was a member of North Lawrence Christian Church.

Survivors include three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her son, Albert Eugene Resco, died on Nov. 5, 1996.

Services for Clarence Wesley McMechan Jr., 84, Lawrence, were Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, with the Rev. Annie Hedquist officiating. Burial was in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. McMechan died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Sugar Creek, Mo., the son of Clarence Wesley and Blanche (Steturmann) McMechan. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He moved in 1950 from Tonganoxie to Lawrence. He married Vera Gay Kramer on April 11, 1938, in Olathe. She died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001.

Survivors include five sons, Larry Eugene McMechan, Stanley Neil McMechan, Leland Clark McMechan and Clinton Lee McMechan, all of Lawrence, and Donald Ray McMechan, South Greenfield, Mo.; three daughters, Wilma Lucille Hall, Marilyn Gay Burns and Sherry Ann Floyd, all of Lawrence; four sisters, Elizabeth Oshel, Lawrence, and Edith Farmer and Beatrice Emery, both of Kelseyville, Calif., and Dorothy Schaal, Wichita; 24 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sons, Gene Allan McMechan, Wesley Dean McMechan, Glenn Arnold McMechan and Carl Lesley McMechan.

Mrs. McMechan died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Brandon Woods Nursing Center in Lawrence.

She was born March 2, 1919, in Tonganoxie, the daughter of Fred and Ama (Pickens) Kramer. She was a member of the World Wide Church of God.

She married Clarence Wesley McMechan Jr. on April 11, 1938, in Olathe. He died on Dec. 27, 2001.

Survivors include five sons, Larry Eugene McMechan, Stanley Neil McMechan, Leland Clark McMechan and Clinton Lee McMechan, all of Lawrence, and Donald Ray McMechan, South Greenfield, Mo.; three daughters, Wilma Lucille Hall, Marilyn Gay Burns and Sherry Ann Floyd, all of Lawrence; four sisters, Faye Pence, Erma Groom and Florence Faler, all of Lawrence, and Gladys Pentlin, Osawatomie; 24 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services for Carrie Edith McAlexander, 75, Fort Meyers, Fla., were Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, with the Rev. Dwaine Hudson officiating. Burial was in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mrs. McAlexander died Dec. 30, 2001, in Fort Meyers. She was born Jan. 20, 1926 in Tonganoxie, the daughter of Mirrett and Reba (Pickens) Walker. She was the former owner of the McAlexander Nursing Home in Tonganoxie.

Survivors include six sons, Cleo McAlexander and Mike McAlexander, both of Lawrence, Calvin McAlexander, Princeton, Kan., John McAlexander, Claremore, Okla., Dennis McAlexander, Fort Meyers, Fla., David McAlexander, Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Judy Markley, Lewisville, Texas, Vicky Durkee, Cedar City, Utah, Kathy Walters, Lehigh, Fla.; one sister, Alice Ruff, Dallas, Texas; 27 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Diana McAlexander, and two granddaughters preceded her in death.

Donald Clauser

Donald F. Clauser Sr., Leavenworth, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at his home. He was 69.

He was born on Dec. 3, 1932 in Leavenworth, the son of Walter E. and Helen M. (Caldwell) Clauser.

Mr. Clauser married Agnes a. Forge in 1953, in Fort Leavenworth. She survives.

Mr. Clauser was a veteran of the United States Army. He was involved in real estate and insurance. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus of Leavenworth. among his personal interests were traveling, reading, stamp collecting and furthering his education.

He is survived by two sons, Donald F. Clauser Jr., Leavenworth, David C. Clauser, Shawnee; two daughters, Angela F. Clauser, Leavenworth, Bernadette M. Cothern, Shawnee; two grandsons, Chad C. Clauser, Leavenworth, and John a. Cothern, Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two infant sons, Joseph G. and Dale a. Clauser; one brother, Bernard L. Clauser; and one sister, Dolores Clauser.

Visitation for Mr. Clauser will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, with a parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Barnett-Larkin_Brown Funeral Home. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception with burial following in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Father David McEvoy will officiate.

Mrs. Vassar died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center, Tonganoxie. She was born March 13, 1916, in Mountain Grove, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Beulah (Westfall) Sanders.

Survivors include three sons, Donald R. Vassar, Springfield, Mo., Robert D. Vassar, LaTour, Mo., and Russell D. Vassar, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Twila Jean Frank, Kansas City, Kan., and Theda J. Stoner, Tonganoxie; three sisters, Alta Kubic, Cabool, Mo., Rae Pence, Liberty, Mo., and Wanita Klingensmith, Independence, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Jon Paul Mills, 35, Topeka, were Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the Church of the Assumption, Topeka. Inurnment was Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

Mr. Mills died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at a Topeka hospital as a result of head injuries sustained on Jan. 7. He was born April 19, 1966, in Kansas City, Kan., and was the adopted son of Fred and Jeanne Doege Mills.

Mr. Mills graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1984. He attended Kansas State University and Washburn University.

Survivors include his parents, Fred and Jeanne M. Mills, Tonganoxie; one daughter, Belai C. Mills, Perry; and one sister, Jan E. Carson, Topeka; and a longtime friend, Nancy Scott, Topeka.

A memorial service for Joyce Berman, 71, Tonganoxie, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Unity Church of Lawrence.

Mrs. Berman died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. She was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Emporia, the daughter of Martin and Inez (Putnam) Hoffman.

She graduated from Emporia State Teachers College and Central Missouri State University and she taught in Strong City, Kansas City, Kan., and the Piper school district. She taught art and special education and was a school counselor.

After she retired, she continued to pursue her passion for art, attending classes at KU and the Lawrence Arts Center.

Mrs. Berman was a member of Unity Church of Lawrence, a former member of the church board and a member of Earth Peace. She also was a member of Wolf Women.

Survivors include her husband, Raoul; a daughter, Michelle Manners, Dallas; two sons, Bill Manners, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Phil Manners, Lawrence; a brother, Dale Hoffman, Kansas City, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Services for Loretta M. "DeeDee" Calovich, 43, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 16, 2002, at the Quisenberry Chapel in Tonganoxie, with the Rev. Mark Goldasich officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

Ms. Calovich died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 3, 1958, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Nicholas Calovich Sr. and Johanna (Ellis) Calovich. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie.

Her mother preceded her in death.

Survivors include her father, Kirbyville, Mo.; seven brothers, Dan Calovich, Edwardsville, Nicholas Calovich Jr., Tonganoxie, Paul Calovich, Blue Springs, Mo., Matt Calovich, Richmond, Kan., Jim Calovich, Gardner, Bill Calovich, Kirbyville, Mo., and Mark Calovich, Hollister, Mo.; three sisters, Jean Sullivan, Chicago, Joan Wood, Tonganoxie, and Christine Burns, Basehor.

Clarence F. Zacharias

1915-2002

Services for Clarence F. Zacharias, 86, Tonganoxie, were Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

Mr. Zacharias died Jan. 28, 2002, in Tonganoxie. He was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Atchison County, the son of Frank Redmond and Josephine Ann (Fisher) Zacharias.

He was a longtime custodian at First National Bank of El Dorado.

He married Alta Gladys Williams on April 15, 1964, in Eureka. She died on March 28, 1970.

Survivors include a brother, Harry Zacharias, Tonganoxie; and three sisters, Hazel Myers, Houston, Mary Shuffleburger, Lancaster, Kan., and Emma Hubartt, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Rodney Allen Boettcher

1966-2002

A memorial service for Rodney Allen "Hot Rod" Boettcher, 35, Edwardsville, will be at 6 p.m. today, Feb. 6, 2002, at New Hope Christian Fellowship, 82nd Street and Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., followed by visitation.

Private inurnment is planned at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan.

Mr. Boettcher died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., from injuries he received on the job. He was born Nov. 26, 1966, in Elgin, Ill.

He was a member and board member of the New Hope Christian Fellowship in Kansas City, Kan., where he also was a Sunday school teacher.

Mr. Boettcher was a journeyman and troubleshooter for KCP&L and KCPL for the past 13 years. He was a 1985 graduate of Turner High School, and he had attended Kansas State University. He participated in the annual International Lineman's Rodeo, was an avid tennis player and enjoyed all sports.

Survivors include a daughter, Erica Boettcher, Merriam; twin brothers, Terry Boettcher, Owensville, Mo., and Larry Boettcher, St. Louis, Mo.; his mother, Mary Kane, Kansas City, Kan.; and his father, Dennis Boettcher, Lawrence.

Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, handled arrangements.

Garrett Thomas Daily

2000-2002

Services for Garrett Thomas Daily, 8 months, 21 days, Tonganoxie, were Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie, with the Rev. Rick Lamb officiating. Burial was in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

He died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at his home from complications of leukemia.

He was born May 9, 2001, in Lawrence, the son of William Brian and Megan (Armstrong) Daily.

Survivors include his parents, a brother, William Christian Daily, and a sister, Devon Michele Daily, all of the home; his paternal grandparents, William and Tina Daily, Dustin, Okla., and Sharon and Larry hill, Mayfield, Kan.; his paternal great-grandmother, Doris Heasty, Mayfield; and his maternal grandmother, Marion Sue Armstrong, Overland Park.
