GLENN L. LINAWEAVER Sr. 74, owner of the Glenn Linaweaver and Sons Construction Company for 50 years, died Sunday Oct. 7, 1990, at his Lansing Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2p.m. at the Belden Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Ray Gilstrap officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, where family visitation will be held from 6 to 8:30 that evening.
Mr. Linaweaver was a lifelong resident of the Leavenworth County area. He was born Oct.28, 1915, in Leavenworth County, the son of Claude B. Linaweaver and Margaret M. Smoot Linaweaver.
He married Dorothy M. Tuttle on Oct. 3, 1936, at Parkville, Mo. She survies at the home.
Mr Linaweaver was a member of the Lansing First Baptist Church, Eagles Aerie No. 55, and the American Coon Hunters Association.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Linaweaver is survived by two sons, Glenn L. Linaweaver Jr. of Lansing and Jerry B Linaweaver of Leavenworth County, a daughter Karen Sue Rush of Leavenworth County, a brother Walter Linaweaver of Lansing, a sister, Mary Rothe of Overland Park, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Claude Andrew Linaweaver in 1938 and a brother, Carl Linaweaver, in 1983.
In lieu of floweres, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association

Grace Kern

Grace Agnes Tearney Kern, 87, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 19, at the home of her son.

The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barnett Larkin Brown Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kern was a lifelong resident of the Leavenworth area. She was born Aug. 12, 1903, at Lowemont, the daughter of Charles and Sizie Smith Tearney.

Mrs. Kern was a graduate of Easton High School. She became a telephone operator in the Kansas City area and advanced to operator supervisor.

She was married to Maurice L. "Dutch" Kern Sr. on Oct. 21, 1925, at St. Joseph of the Valley Church in rural Leavenworth County.

She worked for many years with her husband as a bookkeeper in the family owned Mobil Oil business until her retirement in 1965. She also operated Kern's Dance Hall with her husband and accompanied him as his band played for Boling Grange Dances for many years.

Mrs. Kern was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She also was involved in the Leavenworth Saddle Club with her husband for many years.

Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1989.

Survivors include a son, Maurice L. Kern Jr., Leavenworth; a daughter, Dolores Marie McCurdy, Leavenworth; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, George Tearney , and five sisters, Mary Heintzelman, Clara Smith, Adeline Tearney and Nellie Tearney.

DOROTHY MARIE LINAWEAVER, 78, died Dec. 10, 1990 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park. She was a lifelong Leavenworth resident. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Belden Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Ray Gilstrap officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Linaweaver was born Jan. 29, 1912 in Leavenworth, the daughter of Anna Marie Butzin Tuttle and Raymond Andrew Tuttle. She Married Glenn L. Linaweaver Sr. Oct 3, 1936 in Parkville, Mo. he died Oct 7, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Claude Andrew in 1938, and a brother, Raymond Tutttle, in 1985.
Mrs Linaweaver had been a saleswoman for Stanley Home Products until 1948, when she became a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Aerie No. 55, the Builders Sewing Club, the Lansing Community Club, the Lansing First Baptist Church and the American Coon Hunters Association.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn L. Linawever Jr., Lansing, and Jerry B. Linaweaver, Leavenworth County, a daughter, Karen Sue Rush, leavenworth County, and a sister, M.Leona Etherton, Concord, Calif, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren

Elizabeth Fink

Elizabeth M. "Lena" Fink, a homemaker, died Sunday, April 14, 1991, at St. John Hospital. She was 85.

Mrs. Fink was born Aug. 27, 1905, in Leavenworth County, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Greka Flora. She was a lifelong area resident.

She married Henry R. Fink on April 17, 1937, in Leavenworth County. He survives at the home.

Mrs. Fink was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leavenworth and its Ladies' Altar Society.

A brother, Henry A. Flora, Leavenworth, also survives. Two infant children, two half-sisters and a half-brother preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Chapel where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m..

Friends may call after noon today at the chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church, with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mary Kern

Mary Wells Kern, a former business owner and lifelong resident of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, April 23, 1991, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, she was 86.

Mrs. Kern had lived in Leavenworth all her life and moved to St. Louis in 1990 due to ill health.

She was born in Leavenworth on Aug. 22, 1904, the daughter of Thomas Wells and Margaret Cahill Wells, She married Michael Kern Jr. on Sept. 8, 1926, in Easton. He preceded her in death in May 1986.

She was a travel agent and had owned the Mary Kern Travel Agency in Leavenworth for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its altar society. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Pilot Club of Leavenworth, the Daughters of Isabella and the LCBA.

She was a graduate of Easton High School in 1923.

Survivors include two daughter, Sister Darlyne Kern, SCL, at the Mother house, Leavenworth, and Anita Gill, Florissant, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kern was preceded by a son, two sisters, and two brother.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel.

A Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be held in conjunction with the parish rosary, which will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Charles Hill Sr.

Charles R. Hill Sr., a retired cabinetmaker, died Sunday, June 2, 1991, at his home in Leavenworth. He was 67.

Mr. Hill was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Smithville, Mo., the son of Chrles T. and Elsie Francis Huntsman Hill.

He worked for many years at Kaaz Woodworking, and also at the Great Western Manufacturing co.

He married Alice M. Berry on Aug. 15, 1941, in Platte City, Mo. She survives at the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Zink and Kay Michaud, both of Leavenworth: three sons, Ray Hill Sr., Tom Hill Sr., and Charles Hill Jr., all of Leavenworth: his mother, Elsie Vestal, Lansing; four brothers, Alva Hill, New York, James Hill, Earl Hill, and Joe Hill, all of Leavenworth; three sisters, Ruth O'Rourke, Ferrelview, Mo., Cora Lea Bergman, St. Joseph, Mo., and Betty Linaweaver, Leavenworth; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Gerald Ray Hill, and a sister, Rosa Simonis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and also from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis Funeral Chapel.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in the Mount Muncie Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Patton and the Rev. Gerald E. Todd will officiate.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Amelia K. COFFIN

Amelia K. COFFIN, 85, Leavenworth, died June 14, 1991, at Cushing Memorial Hospital, Leavenworth. She was a lifelong Leavenworth resident. Mrs. COFFIN was a member of the Springdale Friends Church, Springdale, Kan. She was a 60-year member of the Springdale Homemakers Club and a past member of the McLouth chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband of 58 years, Charles C. COFFIN, died in 1982. Survivors include two sons, Keith COFFIN, Lenexa, and Lyle Coffin, Leavenworth; a brother, Henry Messinger, Midvale, Utah; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Davis Chapel, Leavenworth; burial in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Leavenworth.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Springdale Friends Church or Cushing Memorial Hospital.

Irene Forge

Irene C. Forge of rural Leavenworth, a homemaker, died Thursday, Nov.. 21, 1991, at Cushing Memorial Hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Forge was born March 29, 1909, in Rushville, Mo., the daughter of Howard Charles and Mary Jane Gore Culp. She married Leo M. Forge in June of 1936. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Leo Forge, Walter Forge and Raymond Forge, all of Leavenworth; one daughter, Margaret Kowalewski, Clinton, Tenn.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Forge was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home. The Rev Arnold Twenhafel, of St. Jon Lutheran Church of Easton, will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Langley Cemetery west of Easton.

WALTER CLAUDE LINAWEAVER, Lansing, a retired businessman, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1991 at Cushing memorial Hospital. He was 78.
He was born June 21, 1913 in Lansing, the son of Claude Burner and Margaret Smoot Linaweaver.
Mr. Linaweaver worked farm to market trucking. He was a member of the Lansing First Baptist Church, the Abdallah Shrine Temple, the Nine Mile Lodge No. 49, A.F.& M. Leavenworth Chapter No. 2, Council No. 1 and Commantary No.1 and a member of the Eastern Star Graham Chapter No. 395.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Louise Linaweaver of the home, a son Arnold Linaweaver, Lansing, a stepson, Robert Wingander, Nixa Mo., a sister, Mary Roth, Lenexa, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Glenn Linaweaver. Visitation will be from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ray Gilstrap of the Lansing First Baptist Church officating. Bural will follow in the Sunset memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Abdallah Shrine Crippled Childrens's Commitee.

Robert C. Standiford, a retired farmer, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1992, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 96.

He was born March 15, 1894, in Leavenworth, the son of James and Anna Standiford.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a member of the Nazarene Church. He married Virginia Broda on Jan. 28, 1931. She survives in Mattoon, Ill.

Other survivors include a daughter, Millie Alemang, Kearney, Mo., a son, Raymond Standiford, Grandbury, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Davis Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
