LUTTRELL posted by nancy dixon murray on Wednesday, February 5, 2003

I am trying to find information on a railroad protected by the Union ary during the 1863-65 period. Several groups of Galvanized Yankees were part of the regiments formed to protect the settlers along the O & S railroad. They were stationed in Fort Leavenworth. A copy of the company muster roll for the 3rd Vol. Infantry, George Luttrell, provides the information that he was on detached duty guarding the O & S. Might have been in the vicinity of Platte (?). If anyone knows how to research a railroad in Kansas at this time I would appreciate any help on researching railroads ,during the Civil War, that Fort Leavenworth soldiers might have guarded and finding out more about life there at that time. Thank you, Nancy Murray

Reibold F. Julius

I need to find out if Julius was buried in the County cemetary. There is a Julius Eakus ? buried there and I am wondering if this could be him as there is no last name. He was in the prison there for years. and was discharged in 1956 at 74 years old. Wondering if he died there.

WILSON posted by Jay Burrup on Thursday, February 6, 2003

Alexander Wilson and wife Ellen were living in Leavenworth in 1860 but seem to have either died or moved somewhere else shortly thereafter. In the 1860 Leavenworth census, Alexander was 39 years old, born in Pennsylvania, and employed as an attorney. Ellen (maiden name currently unknown) was 29 years old and born in Maryland. There were no children listed in the household. Apparently, Alexander originated in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and served briefly as attorney general of Utah Territory in the late 1850s. I would like to contact or correspond with anyone related to Alexander and Ellen or who has an interest in them. I'm particularly interested to know when and where they died and were buried.

My Grandfather was supposed to be in leavenworth in or around 1928-1930. If this was the prison which is possible, I would like to find out if he was there... His fathers obit. states that Daniel Barry was from Leavenworth. We know he had been in a lot of trouble... If someone knows how to contact the prison to find out I would love to have the information.

John E(Ellison) Dunham with wife Vashti and their son ( Peyton Randolph Dunham) and family were in the 1865 Kansas State Census, Deleware Twp and Post Office. The family is in Missouri in 1870 without John Ellison Dunham so we believe he may have died there. Thanks for any help.
