BOTEN posted by Elaine Koehler on Monday, May 13, 2002

It states in my grandmother's obituary that she was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on February 6, 1863. Her name was Jennie Boten.

Does anyone have information about a Boten family that lived in Leavenworth at that time. She had two sisters and one brother. When she was still quite young the family moved to Council Grove, Kansas. She was quite proud of the fact that she was a pioneer. From a census taken in 1900 I learned that her father was from Missouri and her mother was from from Virginia. In about 1882 Jennie married James E. Woods of Wabausee County. They lived in Rock Creek Township and their union produced fourteen children.

Would someone be kind enough to look up an 1870 census record for Annie Williams, whose photo states that she was 29 and 3 months old in March of 1872. Annie may actually be Sarah Ann. No knowledge if this is a married or maiden surname.

Thank you.
