I am researching the Dodd Family that lived in and around Burlington, KS, Coffey, County. Frank Preston Dodd born August 23, 1876 and married Anna Louisa Baker September 18, 1907. Anna was born December 21, 1880. Frank's parents were Ennis Dodd born December 27, 1837 who married Mary Evelyn Brocaw September 16, 1869. She was born June 2, 1840. Ennis died November 15, 1919 in Burlington, KS. Mary died July 23, 1921 in Burlington, KS. Any information about these individuals or their ancestors or children would be greatly appreciated.

Researching the Fanning family of Waverly, Coffey County, Kansas. William Jasper and Sarah Jane (Story) Fanning and George Washington and MaryAnn (McNulty) Fanning were living in the Waverly area c.1870-1933. Sarah Jane and William Jasper Fanning were married in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois where their son, George Washington, was born. George was the oldest of eight children.

I am looking for family of James W. Brown and Molinda A. Brown who resided in Coffey County from around 1870 to 1910 when they passed away. They are buried in the cemetery at Hartford, Kansas. They had several children, one who was my great grandmother Olive Etta Brown. She married Henry McKean. They also resided in Coffey County until their divorce around 1892. The other children were: Thomas J. Brown, Charles W. Brown, Samuel B. Brown, Franklin Brown, and Effie May Brown. I am particularly interested in finding information on Henry McKean. He was born around Jacksonville, Illinois probably around 1860.

They had 8 known children, Frederic Leo b. 1871, William Robert b. 1873, Florence Olive b. 1876, Andrew Clyde b. 1878, Mary Agnes b. 1880, Elsie Loraine b. 1882, James Blaine b. 1884, and Lora Bell b. 1887. Their children were born in Kansas, Wisconsin and Iowa. Any help appreciated and willing to share what I have.

CLAUSEN), Lolo Pearl b. 1886 (married Daniel MAHFFEY). Need dates of death and place of burial for these persons and names of children. James and Lucinda are buried at Bowman Cemetery but I haven't found the children.

Need information on the children of James FLEMING and his wife Bessie Belle DANFORD of Lebo, Coffey county, Ks. Children were Opal Agnes b. 1900, Hiram I., born 1901, and an adopted girl named Lucille. Lucille married a Spielman and Hiram married Jenna Freeksen, Opal married Clarence Dressler. James Irving FLEMING and his wife Annie L. SMITH had twin boys Benjamin Irving and Leonard Alonzo FLEMING born 4 Nov. 1884. Ben married Anna MC REYNOLDS and Leonard married an Elsie. Would like to know more about these two men. Apparently they moved to North Dakota but were born and raised in Coffey county, Ks. Also who are parents of Annie Smith? I am looking for information on the parents and siblings of Elizabeth Ryan, born 21 Nov 1846 place unknown. Elizabeth married Thomas J. Pilcher 21 Dec 1964 in Bloomfield, Iowa. They eventually settled in Wapello or Davis Co., Iowa where they both are said to have died. They had 7 children including my paternal grandmother, Florence Ollie Pilcher Scott who was born 1 Dec 1876 in Leroy, Coffey Co., Kansas. Any information on the three surnames mentioned in Coffey Co. would be greatly appreciated.

NOELL/MOFFETT--Looking for obituary or any information on location of death for Caleb NOELL, born 1840 Bedford Co, VA. From the obituary for his wife, Isabella (MOFFETT) NOELL, Caleb died 24 November 1861 "surrendering his life for his county's flag." Family rumor has it he died in August 1861. Caleb & Isabella were married 8 May 1859 in Coffey Countey, KS. They were listed in the 1860 census of Coffey Co. Isabella married 2nd Augustine HOLLAND in June 1862 in Coffey Co, Kansas. Caleb & Isabella's son, Caleb Thomas NOELL (my Great-Great Grandfather) was born in Woodson Co, KS in March 1862 (He was born after his father died) Isabella's parents, Wesly & Catherine MOFFETT are in the 1860 census for Liberty Township, Woodson Co, KS. She may have moved there after the death of her husband. I don't know if Caleb served from Woodson or Coffey Co. Any lead greatly appreciate. This is an answer I really want to find. I am researching the family of Thomas SHORT and Mary E.Hurt SHORT who went to Coffey Co. KS around 1856 and Thomas Short died 23 Mar 1857 and is buried in the LeRoy Cemetery. Mary is also buried in LeRoy but do not know her date of death. I would like to know if this is known. Their children were :Mary Hansford Short, Nancy, Milton, Harvey Thurston, James W. (died in Coffey Co.), Elizabeth, John Price, Farley, and Thomas. They had previously lived in Warren Co. IL, but orginally they were all from Lawrence Co. IN. I will share my information also.

HART/KIDWELL Coffey Co. KS Searching for information on John Preston HART who came to KS either to Coffey or Franklin Co. KS. His children were Laura G, Mercy Elizabeth, David V., and Harriet C. It is probable that all were married except possibly Harriet. John P. HART is buried in the Old Waverly Cemetery in block 12. We know he married Margaret Ann Brown in 1876 in KS. It is possible she was his 3rd wife. Mercy Elizabeth married George Washington KIDWELL in OH in 1868. They moved to the Coffey/Franklin area from OH. Mercy marries in 1907 to John BRADY. Would like to exchange info.

Looking for descendants of Ernest. He was one of 5 sons and 4 daughters born to Edward W. (b: 28 Feb. 1830, New Market, MD, Frederick Co.) and Lydia Ann Hughes (b: 1838). Looking for SAM AND EMMA LEAVENS who lived in Coffey County, Burlington and Gridley, 1860-1900. Fred Leavens, son, worked for Billy Crane and JW Smith ranchers. Fred, b. 3-20-1885, said that his family disappeared while he was riding fence between Burlington and Sun City about 1897. He then worked for Harry Povenmire near Gridley. Any information would be helpful. Only other Leavens found is Nettie dob 8-14-1866, daughter of Francis Leavens and Susan Bartholomew.
