Of his Daughter at
William N. Eckes, who has lived in Winfield for the past eleven years and is well known here, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maude Thompson at Cushing, Oklahoma, of neuralgia of the heart. He has been living for some time with another daughter, Mrs. W. G. Smith, of College Hill, and was in Cushion visiting when death came. Besides the two daughters mentioned, he leaves a wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Eckes, a son, John D. Eckes, a dentist now practicing in San Francisco, and S. B. Eckes formerly a contractor at Muskogee, but now in California, another daughter, Mrs. Della Shelby, of Portland, Ore. A brother, William Eckes of Helena, Okla., arrived this morning to attend the funeral, which will be held tomorrow from Grace M. E. Church.
Mr. Eckes was a veteran of the Civil War, and later in life was ordained to preach by the M. E, church. He was born in Lewis County, W. Va. in 1844. Death came Saturday at 10:30 P. M. None of the children on the coast will be able to attend.
