Would like to hear from others who may have Osage ancestors who lived in the Fort Scott area in 1860s. Margaret WOOD is said to have been part-Osage. Present in Fort Scott in 1860 U.S. census married to Michael Wood(s), three children were John, Michael, and Emma. In 1865 KS census she was still in Fort Scott but married to John McALEVY, immigrant from Ireland. Margaret's maiden name has been recalled as GLIBBAN/GLIBBIN/GLAVIN/McGIBBON.
Margaret had four McALEVY children: Margaret, Elizabeth, George, and Henry.

My great great grandfather enlisted in the 2nd Kansas Battery of Light Artillery. He wrote on his papers that he was living at Marmaton KS.

A.J. had been born in TN. His family arrived at Jasper Co. MO by 1851. By the time of his enlistment, his cousins were already serving in the Confederate Missouri Home Guards.

I am hoping to find info on Andrew's brothers and sisters (Their parent's names were Jarrott (Jarrett) and Dorcus), as well as further information on the life and times in this part of the world at that point in history

Query: I am hunting for information regarding the VAN FOSSEN brothers: DJ, John, and Charles (a.k.a. Luther C VF?).

In 1865, DJ became a resident of Ft. Scott, Bourbon Co. where he established several businesses, including real estate. He also went into the grocery business with his brothers, John and Charles. I want to know what happened to John and Charles. I believe that John is a Civil War Union Army vet. I also suspect that Charles may have been going by his middle name. If so, he may be Luther C. of Baxter Springs.
If anyone has information on them, their parents and/or their children, please contact me.
One final note: DJ was born in New York, Feb 1833. He's lived in Indiana and Michigan, and he stayed in California before settling in Ft. Scott.
