| William Tecumseh Sherman (1820-1891) was a Union
general during the Civil War who lead the famous
march across Georgia and is credited with the saying
"War is Hell".
The Special Collections of the Ablah Library at WSU contain historical images of Kanorado and Goodland. For more about Sherman County's history visit the Sherman County Historical Society. The Kansas State Historical Society also has more historical data for Sherman County online including a rich bibliography and lists of cemeteries, post offices, and newspapers. |

Sunflowers grow well in many places in Kansas and especially in northwest Kansas.
This field of sunflowers was in bloom on a cloudy day in August, 1999, on old Hwy 24 between Kanorado and Goodland.
