Topeka Author to receive Edgar Wolfe Literary Award

The 2002 recipient of the Edgar Wolfe Literary Award is Thomas Fox Averill. A Topeka, Kansas resident, Averill is writer-in-residence and Professor of English at Washburn University and author of two short story collections, one humorous travelogue, and one novel, Secrets of the Tsil Cafe, published last year.

Averill will accept the award at a reception on Sunday, April 14, 2002 at 2:00pm at the West Wyandotte Branch of the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library. The event is free and open to the public. [For more information, please call 913-279-2067].

The Edgar Wolfe Literary Award is given in honor of Edgar Wolfe, a teacher of creative writing at the University of Kansas. The award was established in 1990 by the Friends of the Library in Kansas City, Kansas to honor the local author.
