Description Overview: K-LIRT's 2007 Summer Workshop is actually three
separate workshops: a podcasting workshop, a My Space and Facebook workshop,
and a Second Life workshop. Each of these three workshops will be offered two
times: once in a morning session from 10:00 a.m. to Noon and again in an
afternoon session from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This means that each attendee
will be able to attend two of the three workshops. Although different in
their topic, each workshop will be similar in purpose: to get you started
using the technology, in a guided, hands-on instructional session. Intended Audience: Anyone who provides (or is interested in
providing) formal or informal library or information literacy instruction to
elementary, high school, or college students. Contact Hours: A total of 4 contact hours divided into two
sessions, each two hours in length. Format: Each workshop will involve hands-on, guided
instruction and will take place in an electronic classroom. Participants will
work on a computer individually or in pairs. Presenters Facebook/My
Space Workshop: Jennifer Schroeder, Cloud County Community College Jennifer is a Librarian at the Learning Resources
Center on Cloud County Community College's main campus in Concordia. Ronda Holt, Butler Community College Ronda is the Library Technology Specialist
at L.W. Nixon Library on Butler Community College's main campus in El Dorado.
Podcasting
Workshop: Judy Bastin, Butler Community College Judy is a reference and instruction librarian at
L.W. Nixon Library on Butler Community College's main campus in El Dorado.
She was chair of K-LIRT from April 2006 - April 2007. Lisa Craft, Butler Community College Lisa is a reference and instruction
librarian at the Butler Community College's satellite campus in Andover. She
is the current chair of K-LIRT. Second Life
Workshop: Bill Sowers, State Library of Kansas Bill is a cataloger for the Kansas Documents
collection at the State Library of Kansas. He and his wife Diane maintain the
State Library's virtual site on Second Life. Diane Sowers, Topeka and Shawnee County Public
Library Diana works at the Topeka and Shawnee
County Public Library. She and her husband Bill maintain the State Library's
virtual site on Second Life. Schedule Friday,
July 27th, 2007, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Registration Cap: Registration will be capped at 40. Registration Period: Registration
is open until July 16, 2007. Registration Fee: K-LIRT members: $15.00 Lunch is included in the

2007 Summer Institute Refunds: Full refunds will be granted for refund
requests received through July 16th, 2007. Refunds will not be issued for

Parking Parking is readily available just after entering the Butler campus. Park in one of the lots near the campus entrance. L.W. Nixon Library is in building 600, which is just west of the campus entrance. See the campus map for parking lot locations.
